ECHR rules Tymoshenko's jailing illegal
KYIV. April 30 (Interfax) - The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has ruled that the jailing of former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko as part of the gas case against her was politically motivated and her rights were violated.
ECHR announced its decision on Tuesday.
The court unanimously agreed that a violation of Part 1 of Article 5 of the European Convention on Human Rights had been committed, ECHR said in its resolution.
The court also established violations of Part 4 of Article 5 of the convention, Part 5 of Article 5 and Article 18 of the convention, it said.
