Energy System of East reduces electricity generation 5% in Q1, heat output down 1%

MOSCOW. April 30 (Interfax) - RAO Energy System of East generated 9.706 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) in the first quarter of 2013, 4.8% less than in the same period last year.

Electricity generation in March edged down 0.31% year-on-year to 3.191 billion kWh, the company said in a statement.

Russia generated 292.6 billion kWh of electricity in the first quarter, 1.9% less year-on-year. In the Far East, excluding isolated systems, generation totaling 14.1 billion kWh, 0.4% more. Energy System of East accounted for 3.3% of total Russian production and 68.5% of Far Eastern production.

Energy System of East power stations and boiler plants put out 14.042 million GCal of heat in the first quarter, 0.9% less than in the same period last year.

Energy System of East unites power companies in Russia's Far East with capacity to produce over 9,000 megawatts of electricity and 17,900 GCal/hr of heat, and operates over 102,000 kilometers of transmission lines. RusHydro has a controlling stake.
