Moscow police investigate conflict in which one person died

MOSCOW. May 6 (Interfax) - The Moscow police are looking into the circumstances of a conflict between two groups of men in southeast Moscow in which one man was shot dead and another stabbed, Interfax was told at the press service of the city police.

"At about 8:30 p.m. on Sunday the police received a report of a conflict between two groups of people near Baku hotel on Nizhniye Polya Street," a press officer said.

During the scuffle, one side inflicted bodily injures to opponents and fled in a car which was later stopped.

According to an Interfax source in law enforcement, the conflict involved two groups of men from the Caucasus. The attackers were detained on a Mercedes Benz Gelandwagen with Chechen license plates.

Early reports say that one man was stabbed in the flight and another died of a shot wound in the head shortly after the fight, the press officer added.
