Assad did not send letter to U.S. via Russia - embassy

MOSCOW. May 6 (Interfax) - The Syrian Embassy in Moscow has denied media reports alleging that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad warned Washington via Moscow that it would immediately respond to Israel's new aggression.

"The information that Bashar al-Assad sent a message to Washington via Moscow is untrue," an embassy spokesperson told Interfax.

"Syria has told the whole world that any new Israeli attack would meet a response without warning, and Syria will choose the proper place and time," he said.

The Kuwaiti newspaper Alrai reported earlier that Assad had sent a letter to Washington via Moscow to warn that Syria would immediately respond to Israel's new aggression. The newspaper said Assad was expecting a reply from Washington within 24 hours.
