Gazprom Drilling to drill 4 wells for Northgas
MOSCOW. May 6 (Interfax) - Arkady Rotenberg's Gazprom Drilling LLC will drill four production wells for Northgas at the Eastern dome of the North Urengoi field, the drilling company said in a statement.
The work will be carried out by a division of Gazprom Drilling, Urengoi Drilling, using a Uralmash BU-3000 EUK drilling rig.
Gazprom Drilling has provided drilling services to Northgas in the past.
Novatek acquired a 49% stake in Northgas in November 2012. A subsidiary of Gazprom holds a controlling stake.
Since acquiring the stake, Novatek has been purchasing 100% of the unstable gas condensate and 50% of the gas that Northgas produces.
Northgas produced 4.2 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas in 2012 and expects that figure to reach 8-10 bcm a year once production from North Urengoi's Eastern dome comes on stream. North Urengoi field, discovered in 1966, is located in the Nadym and Pur districts of Yamalo-Nenets autonomous district. Reserves at the field are classified as difficult to extract owing to the complicated geological structure, multilayered reservoirs, the presence of oil rims and productive horizons more than 3,000 meters deep.
