Powerful improvised bombs found in Buinaksk - police

ROSTOV-N-DON. May 7 (Interfax) - Three powerful improvised explosive devices have been found in privately owned houses in Buinaksk in the Republic of Dagestan in Russia's North Caucasus, a city police spokesman told Interfax.

"Acting on a tip-off, police found three powerful improvised explosive devices in three privately owned houses of Buinaksk. The bombs were disposed of. The owner of one of the houses was detained," the spokesman said.

Two of the bombs contained the equivalent of two kilograms of TNT each, and the third one contained the equivalent of three kilograms of TNT, he said.

The bombs were disposed of at the site because their transportation proved to be dangerous, he said. The houses where the bombs were found were damaged by the explosions.

Police are currently verifying information of possible plans to use these explosive devices during Victory Day celebrations in the city on May 9, he said.
