Washington hopes to have comprehensive talk in Moscow on relations in general, not Syria only - State Department

WASHINGTON. May 7 (Interfax) - The U.S. hopes that a very comprehensive dialog on bilateral relations will take place during the Tuesday meeting of U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The United States does not get the chance to talk to Putin directly that often, the last time U.S. President Barack Obama met with his Russian counterpart was in summer 2010 in Los Cabos Mexico and the two have recently talked on the telephone several times, a high-ranking official of the U.S. State Department told reporters. Thus, Kerry is expected to have a comprehensive meeting with Putin related to the whole scope of the bilateral relations, not only Syria, the official said.

The official said that the Russian partners made it clear that they were ready to talk about Syria and that they had many other issues to discuss.

The U.S. will have a fantastic opportunity to have a conversation with President Putin, the U.S. official said.

U.S. Secretary of State Kerry arrived on Tuesday morning on his first visit to Moscow since he was appointed to the office.
