Rosreestr employee detained St. Petersburg on suspicion of 20 mln ruble fraud

ST. PETERSBURG. May 7 (Interfax) - St. Petersburg police detained an employee of the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography (Rosreestr) on the suspicion of organizing and implementing the illegal withdrawal of 20 million rubles of budget funds.

The 30-year-old female employee, who took the position of senior specialist-expert of the financial and economic department in 2011-2012, organized a scheme of illegal withdrawal of budget funds from Rosreestr's account through figureheads, the press office of the Interior Ministry's main regional department said.

"The suspect illegally altered requests for the return of excessive (incorrectly) transferred payments to the federal budget related to details of legal entities and individuals, the details of figureheads, and sent these requests to the St. Petersburg federal treasury department," the press office said in a statement.

Over 20 million rubles were transferred illegally via the scheme. The criminal cases under the Russian Criminal Code Article 159 Part 3, large-scale fraud, have been opened.
