Makfa pasta-product sales increase 2% in 2012

CHELYABINSK. May 8 (Interfax) - OJSC Makfa of Chelyabinsk Region, a leading Russia producer of pasta products, flour, groats, and combined feeds, sold 147,250 pounds of pasta last year, 2% more than it did in 2011, company materials say.

Sales of the premium brand Grand di Pasta amounted to 5,500 tonnes (up 19.4% from 2011), of the medium price range Makfa - 112,750 tonnes (up 7.8%), and of the Smak brand - 29,020 tonnes (down 17.5%).

Makfa estimates its share of the Russian market for pasta products in terms of output volume remained at 16% last year, of the medium price range segment - 32%. Its share of the premium segment increased to 12%.

The company told Interfax that Makfa sold 248,993 tonnes of flour last year, up 14.6% from 2011.

Makfa made net profits of 1.325 billion rubles in 2012, a 60% increase on the year before. Sales revenues were up 14.7% at 10.659 billion rubles.

Valery Yurevich, who sits on the company board of directors and is the father of Chelyabinsk Region Governor Mikhail Yurevich, controls 71.43% of Makfa charter capital. The governor's mother, Natalya Yurevich, holds 19.28%.
