Russia offers joint development of air/missile defense systems to Turkey - Rosoboronexport
ISTANBUL. May 8 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia is offering Antei-2500 in a Turkish army tender for long-range air defense systems. It is prepared for profound technological cooperation with Turkish partners if the bid is victorious, Rosoboronexport General Director Anatoly Isaikin told reporters.
"If the Russian bid wins, Russia will undertake joint production of a new-generation air defense missile system for the Turkish Armed Forces as a contract commitment," Isaikin said at the defense show in Istanbul.
"We are ready to entrust our Turkish colleagues with the production of some parts for Antei-2500 anti-aircraft missile systems but their smooth operation will be our main criterion," Isaikin said.
So, higher quality of end products will determine the amount of parts to be made by Turkish contractors, he said.
Industrial cooperation patterns will be agreed upon at negotiations, Isaikin said, adding that the Turkish tender commission has yet to make a decision.
"We are hopeful of a positive outcome. Our hopes are based on the genuine superiority of Russian air and missile defense systems over systems offered by other tender participants," Isaikin said.
