Putin signs law to limit foreigners' access to retail trade

MOSCOW. May 8 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law banning recruitment of migrants as highly skilled professionals in retail trade.

Adjustments to the law "On the Legal Status of Foreign Citizens in Russia" say "an employer or an ordering customer shall have no right to recruit foreign citizens as highly skilled professionals serving clients in consumer goods retail trade [including pharmaceutical goods] irrespective of salable assortment."

The exception is made for employees supervising or coordinating trade.
