Putin: joint steps towards positive scenarios in Syria discussed at Cameron's initiative

SOCHI. May 10 (Interfax) - Positive scenarios in Syria and possible joint steps to the effect have been discussed at bilateral negotiations at the initiative of British Prime Minister David Cameron, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.

"At the initiative of the British prime minister we discussed possible scenarios, positive development of this process and a number of possible joint steps," Putin said after negotiations with Cameron.

He stressed they had a detailed discussion of international issues, primarily Syria. "We have a common interest in the soonest termination of violence and startup of the peace process, preservation of Syria as a territorially integral sovereign state," the Russian president said.

He thanked the British colleagues and personally Cameron for the substantive and frank conversation.
