Rusal ships 11.3% less aluminum by rail in 4M - RZD

MOSCOW. May 13 (Interfax) - UC Rusal reduced aluminum shipments by rail 11.3% year-on-year in January-April to 748,300 tonnes, Russian Railways (RZD) said.

Export shipments fell 10% to 710,700 tonnes and domestic shipments fell 29.6% to 37,500 tonnes.

Alumina shipments edged down 0.2% to 2.394 million tonnes, with imports falling 1.3% to 1.573 million tonnes but domestic shipments rising 1.9% to 821,700 tonnes.

RZD's figures differ from Rusal's own, which are usually published later because, the aluminum company says, RZD reports aluminum shipped in containers as container cargo, without a breakdown for the type of cargo.
