GM-Avtovaz re-launches conveyor after 2 weeks idleness

SAMARA. May 13 (Interfax) - GM-Avtovaz, the OJSC Avtovaz and General Motors joint venture in Togliatti, has re-launched its conveyor, which was standing idle from April 29 to May 12, two weeks that contained the May Day and Victory Day holidays in Russia, the plant's press service told Interfax.

The conveyor was shut down with the aim of optimizing the balance between supply and demand for the Chevrolet Niva.

The plant has returned to its normal work schedule - operating two shifts per day five days a week and eight hours per shift. During the period of idleness, plant workers received two-thirds of their average pay.
