Kazakh govt leaves 2013 economic growth forecast unchanged at 6%

ASTANA. May 14 (Interfax) - The Kazakh government has left its economic growth forecast for 2013 unchanged at 6%, the country's Economy and Budget Planning Minister Yerbolat Dosayev told a Tuesday Cabinet meeting in Astana.

"We expect growth in real GDP this year at 6%, we are not going to revise it," he said.

"This year GDP will expand to reach 34.291 trillion tenge," he said.

As reported, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has lowered its outlook for Kazakhstan's real GDP growth to 4.9% from 6%.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) expects the Kazakh economy to grow 5.5% in 2013, compared with its previous forecast of 5.7%.

The Kazakh economy will expand 5.2% this year according to Asian Development Bank and 5.8% according to the Eurasian Development Bank.

In 2012, Kazakhstan's GDP rose 5%.

According to the Kazakh Economy Ministry, GDP will annually grow 6%-7% in 2013-2017.

The current exchange rate is 151.1 tenge/$1.
