Russian trade surplus up 1.3% at $16.1 bln in March - CBR

MOSCOW. May 14 (Interfax) - Russia posted a March foreign trade surplus of $16.112 billion as determined by balance of payments, which was 1.3% more than February's $15.906 billion, the Central Bank of Russia (CBR) said.

Exports grew 5.6% to $44.243 billion from $41.906 billion, and imports were up 8.2% to $28.131 billion from $26.01 billion.

The trade surplus was $49.760 billion in January-March, down 15.2% from $58.691 billion in the same period of last year.

Exports fell 4.9% to $125.197 billion from $131.664 billion in the three months, while imports grew 3.4% to $75.437 billion from $72.974 billion.

The Central Bank said in a preliminary estimate in early April that the trade surplus for the quarter equaled $50.1 billion. It estimated that exports totaled $125.7 billion and imports - $75.7 billion, or slightly more than the revised figures.
