Russian Foreign Ministry protests spying by U.S. Embassy employee
MOSCOW. May 15 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry has expressed protest to U.S. Ambassador in Moscow Michael McFaul over the attempted recruitment of a Russian security service officer by CIA agent Ryan Fogle.
"Protest has been expressed to the ambassador over the attempted recruitment of a Russian security service officer by CIA agent R. Fogle operating under the cover of a third secretary of the U.S. Embassy," the Russian Foreign Ministry said following a meeting of Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov with McFaul on Wednesday.
The report said that the U.S. diplomat caught red-handed was declared "persona non grata" and must leave Russia shortly.
