Inflation in Russia again 0.1% in week, 2.7% YTD - Rosstat

MOSCOW. May 15 (Interfax) - Russia again had inflation of 0.1% for the week May 7-13, the Federal State Statistics Service (Rosstat) said.

Inflation was 2.7% since the start of the year.

Prices rose 0.1% for the fourth week in a row after they grew 0.2% in the week April 9-15. Prices rose 0.1% each week in March and the beginning of April except for the period March 26-April 1, when inflation was zero.

Prices rose 0.2% between May 1 and 13. They grew 0.2% in the same period of May last year also, and 0.5% last May as a whole.

Annualized inflation was 7.2% as of May 13, as at the end of April.

Inflation was 0.5% in April this year (0.3% in April 2012) and 0.3% in March this year. Annual inflation was 7% at the end of March.

In the past week, prices averaged up 2.5% for fruit and vegetables, including 7.8% for onion, 5.9% for cabbage and 4.1% for potatoes. Sugar went up 0.3%, tea 0.2% and bread - 0.1%.

However egg prices fell 1% and salt, mutton and buckwheat - 0.2-0.4%, while gasoline and diesel prices were unchanged.

Analysts told Interfax in a consensus forecast at the end of April that they thought inflation would be 6.2% this year as a whole. The Russian Economic Development Ministry is forecasting 5%-6%. Inflation was 6.6% in 2012.
