Powerful fire at Yerevan warehouse extinguished - emergencies ministry
YEREVAN. May 16 (Interfax) - A fire that erupted at the warehouse of Armenia's major shipping company on the southern outskirts of the capital Yerevan last night has been extinguished, the country's Emergency Situations Ministry told Interfax.
No one has been killed or injured in the blaze.
Karen Bagdasaryan, spokesman for the Spayka firm, which owns the warehouse, told journalists, that the fire had destroyed refrigerators on an area of 15,000 square meters.
An investigation continues.
The Spayka company specializes in cargo shipments to Russia, other CIS states and Europe, as well as exports of food and non-food commodities.
The Aravot (Morning) newspaper has reported that one of the company's shareholders is Sedrak Kocharyan, the elder son of former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan.
