Lavrov rejects suggestions that Russia may exchange Syrian agreement for West's concessions in other areas

MOSCOW. May 16 (Interfax) - Moscow will not accept any 'backdoor' agreement on Syria in exchange for the West's concessions in other areas, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"This is not serious. I think that those who try to talk up such proposals indulge in wishful thinking," Lavrov said in an interview with Lebanon's al-Mayadeen TV channel.

"Everybody knows well that Russia's position on a large number of the most crucial issues is not opportunistic," he said.
