Iran refusing to cooperate - IAEA
MOSCOW. May 17 (Interfax) - International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Yukiya Amano said Iran has been refusing to cooperate with the IAEA in matters related to its nuclear program.
Iran has not been cooperating with the IAEA in its effort to understand the goal of their program, Yukiya Amano said at the International Relations Institute (MGIMO) in Moscow on Friday.
The IAEA does not know whether Iran's nuclear program has a military goal, he said.
The IAEA cannot check whether the Iranian nuclear program is or is not peaceful, he said, adding that reports about the Iranian nuclear program's military bias must be checked.
The IAEA has expressed concern on many occasions that the Iranian authorities have not been allowing IAEA observers to inspect the nuclear facility in Parchin.
The Iranian government claimed, meanwhile, that Parchin is not a nuclear facility and that it is not obliged to allow IAEA inspectors into it, but nevertheless is ready to do so after the format of their work has been defined.
