Dollar up slightly against ruble

MOSCOW. May 17 (Interfax) - The dollar rose slightly and the euro fell against the ruble by Friday evening.

The dollar gained 4.5 kopecks to 31.41 rubles/$1 as of 6:51 p.m. on the Moscow Exchange, down 32.9% rubles from yesterday's close. The euro was down 5 kopecks at 40.33 rubles/EUR1. The bi-currency basket was unchanged at 35.425 rubles.

The Central Bank lowered its official dollar rate for Tuesday by 2.35 kopecks to 31.3931 rubles/$1 and its euro rate by 4.28 kopecks to 40.3747 rubles/EUR1.

The dollar averaged down 4 kopecks to 31.38 rubles/$1 in Today deals and unchanged at 31.4 rubles/$1 in Tom deals. Overall trading volume was $5.535 billion, including $1.806 billion Today and $3.789 billion Tom.

The euro was down 4.5 kopecks to 40.37 rubles/EUR1 in Today deals and down 6.5 kopecks to 40.37 rubles/EUR1 in Tom deals in volume of EUR589 million, including EUR294 million Today and EUR295 million Tom.

The MosPrime Rate for overnight credits was unchanged at 6.5%.
