Krasnoyarsk governor invites Germans to Zheleznogorsk, Angara-Yenisei clusters
KRASNOYARSK. May 20 (Interfax) - During meetings with representatives of German business circles in Moscow, Governor of the Krasnoyarsk territory Lev Kuznetsov invited German companies to participate in investment projects for the innovation technology cluster in Zheleznogorsk and the Angara-Yenisei cluster, the governor's press service reported.
"The consumption of high-tech products, engineering and services in the region is growing continuously. That is partly connected with our favorable geographic position between Europe and Asia. We are sincerely interested in our colleagues from Germany becoming our partners in the conquest for new markets," Kuznetsov said.
The governor also suggested conducting regular trade and economic missions comprising representatives of small and medium businesses in Krasnoyarsk and Germany. These missions would jointly develop and implement projects to modernize and reconstruct treatment systems, as well as to develop energy, forestry, agriculture, housing and utilities.
Germany invested $7 million in the economy of the Krasnoyarsk territory in 2012. There are four companies with German participation in the region, the regional Investments and Innovation Ministry told Interfax.
Trade turnover between the Krasnoyarsk territory and Germany totaled $966.67 million last year. Exports skyrocketed 400% to $720.74 million.
Space and nuclear technology projects planned for implementation in Zheleznogorsk until 2020 are estimated to cost over 110 billion rubles. The base companies at the innovation cluster and the main innovation clients are OJSC Information Satellite Systems (ISS) (one of the world's leading satellite builders) and Federal State Unitary Enterprise Mining and Chemical Combine (transports and stores spent nuclear fuel).
Last September, Russia's Economic Development Ministry added the project to create a cluster in Zheleznogorsk to the federal list of priority territorial innovation clusters.
The Angara-Yenisei cluster project entails the construction of new and the development of existing mining and enrichment enterprises (gold, copper, nickel and magnesium), the establishment of a timber complex (278,500 cubic meters of sawlog per year), the creation of a metallurgical facility (420,000 tonnes of roll a year) and the construction of the Nizhneangarsk Hydro-Electric Power Plant.
In terms of infrastructure for the cluster, a bridge will be built over the Yenisei River, several roads measuring a total of 642 kilometers will be paved, and 443 km of power transmission lines will be installed.
The Krasnoyarsk territory applied to the Russian Investment Fund last December for co-financing for the project to create the Angara-Yenisei cluster in 2012-2021. Altogether, the project will cost 272.5 billion rubles, the majority of which (216.8 billion rubles, or 79%) will come from private companies. The region is asking for 45.7 billion rubles to develop infrastructure for the cluster, and it is willing to spend 10 billion rubles of its own resources for these ends.
