Militants killed in Ingushetia identified - Investigative Committee

NAZRAN. May 21 (Interfax) - The identities of the militants killed during a security operation in Nazran of the Republic of Ingushetia in Russia's North Caucasus have been established, a spokesman for the Russian Investigative Committee's local branch told Interfax.

"The preliminary information available identifies them as Alikhan Ozdoyev, born in 1988, and Dzhamaleil Mutaliyev," the spokesman said.

Ozdoyev's wife and his young child were allowed to leave the building during negotiations with the suspects, who, however, refused to surrender and opened fire on security service units, he said.

Investigators are working at the site.

A criminal inquiry will be started soon.

Two suspected militants were killed in a counterterrorist operation, which was launched in several streets of Nazran's Gamurziyevo district at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

None of the officers was killed or injured.
