Nat'l Bank of Kazakhstan expects annual inflation of 6.2%-6.4% in 2013
ALMATY. May 22 (Interfax) - June-to-June annual inflation in Kazakhstan this year is expected to be 6.2%-6.4%, an inflation review posted on the National Bank of Kazakhstan's website says.
The bank forecasts that inflation in the republic in the second quarter of this year will be 1.1%-1.3%. It was 1.7% in Q2 last year.
"The expectation is that in this period inflation, primarily, will develop under the influence of the seasonal factor. This assumes a seasonal reduction or slowing of the rate of price growth for such commodities as fruit and vegetable product, dairy product, eggs, [and] meat product," the review says.
The inflation forecast for Q3 2013 is 0.7%-0.9%. It was 1.1% in Q3 last year.
Inflation was 1.9% in the first quarter of 2013.
Kazakhstan saw inflation of 6% in 2012, and consumer prices are predicted to rise 6%-8% in 2013.
