Tajik who threw stone at Brazilian Embassy in Moscow is mentally disabled

DUSHANBE. May 23 (Interfax) - A citizen of Tajikistan detained on May 18 for throwing a stone at the door of the Brazilian Embassy in Moscow is mentally disabled and the Tajik Embassy will ask for him to be sent home without a trial, Tajik Embassy press attache Muhammad Egamzod told reporters on Thursday.

"The mother of 22-year-old Abdullo Bobozoda told the Tajik Embassy that her son was mentally disabled," Egamzod said in a telephone conference.

Bobozoda was a student of the Lomonosov Northern (Arctic) Federal University in Arkhangelsk. The mother said he was knocked down by a car, sustained a heavy brain injury and developed a mental disability.

"The criminal case had been opened against Bobozoda and the embassy decided to give full support to our citizen. A lawyer will be assigned and medical files attesting his condition will be handed over to detectives," the press attache said.

The Tajik citizen detained immediately after the incident explained his action with disagreement with the Brazilian radioactive waste management policy.
