Russia, Serbia to develop energy, military-technological cooperation - declaration
SOCHI. May 24 (Interfax) - Russia and Serbia have agreed to add a new incentive to cooperation in various fields, in particular, in the energy and defense sectors.
A Declaration on Strategic Partnership Russia and Serbia adopted following a Russian-Serbian summit in Sochi on Friday says that the parties agreed to "further develop cooperation in the energy field in the interests of strengthening energy security, with an emphasis placed on the implementation of major joint projects in the oil and gas sectors."
Moscow and Belgrade will cooperate with the aim of "ensuring stable supplies of natural gas, oil and other energy resources, improving energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy resources."
In the defense sector, Russia and Serbia agreed "to step up military cooperation on a long-term basis" and also military-technological cooperation, including within the framework of a bilateral working group.
Russia and Serbia also agreed to encourage active studies of the Russian language and literature in Serbia and the Serbian language and literature in Russia, protect, maintain and preserve culture monuments, military memorials, and burial places.
"Strategic partnership between the parties is not targeted against any third state," he said.
