All State Duma factions consider development of friendship with China a priority - Naryshkin

BEIJING. May 27 (Interfax) - State Duma Speaker Sergei Naryshkin said the development of cooperation with China is a priority for Russia.

"The strengthening of comprehensive cooperation between Russia and China is a priority for our country," Naryshkin said during a meeting with Zhang Dejiang, chairman of the Permanent Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress on Monday.

Naryshkin is currently paying an official visit to China as head of a Russian delegation.

Naryshkin reiterated that Russian-Chinese relations are a fine example of true strategic partnership, which brings positive results and boosts the quality of life of the peoples of the two countries.

Naryshkin pointed out that there are members of all four factions of the Russian parliament in the Russian delegation (United Russia, the Communist Party, A Just Russia, and the Liberal Democratic Party).

"We all agree that the development of friendship and cooperation with China is our priority," he said.

Zhang Dejiang told Naryshkin that this visit is sure to give a powerful impetus to the development of friendly contacts between the parliaments of Russia and China.
