Russian property agency intends to privatize 5% of RZD by 2015, another 20% by 2017
MOSCOW. May 27 (Interfax) - Russia's Federal Property Agency (Rosimuschestvo) intends to privatize 5% of OJSC Russian Railways (RZD) by the end of 2014 and another 20% by the end of 2016, Rosimuschestvo chief Olga Dergunova said at a Monday meeting on the Economic Development Ministry's plans until 2018.
"It was important to show that we are considering this possibility [of privatizing RZD] in principle, so to say 5% and 20%, 10% and 10% right now - we don't know. Right now we're at the phase in which, having provided our intentions, we are preparing to receive support. But those are the intentions," Dergunova said.
Right now, having informed the government of its intentions, Rosimuschestvo and experts remain in the phase of discussing approaches to and the advisability of privatizing RZD, she said.
"Nonetheless, understanding how significant this decision is, we have allowed ourselves to indicate in 'roadmaps,' in the privatization plan, and in this document [the Economic Development Ministry development plan until 2018] as a signal that we continue movement in this direction," Dergunova said.
