Lavrov says it is impossible to artificially set timeframe for Syria conference results
PARIS. May 28 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has objected to any efforts to artificially set a timeframe during which the planned international conference on Syria should produce results.
"We share an understanding that it is impossible to artificially set any timeframe for this conference to produce results and that international players should not substitute the Syrian sides, but, rather, ought to encourage them to reach an agreement between themselves regarding the country's future, as well as how to put the agreements secured in the Geneva Communique into practice, including the creation at the mutual consent of the government and the opposition of a transitional governing body in charge of preparing the reforms that would suit all of the Syrians," Lavrov told journalists after a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry.
