Dollar, euro climb on Moscow Exchange Friday
MOSCOW. May 31 (Interfax) - The dollar and the euro had risen appreciably on the Moscow Exchange towards Friday evening and the dollar hit a nine-month high during the day.
The bicurrency basket also gained amid deteriorating moods on the market for capital and sliding world oil prices.
The dollar exited May up 3% and the bicurrency basket more than 2%.
By 6:45 p.m. Moscow time, the dollar was up 20.3 kopecks from Thursday close at 31.93 rubles/$1. The euro had gained seven to 41.44 rubles/EUR1. The bicurrency basket ($0.55 and EUR 0.45) was up 14 kopecks at 35.21 rubles.
The average weighted dollar rate in Today deals rose 21 kopecks from the day before to 31.82 rubles/$1. The rate in Tomorrow deals was by 6:47 p.m. up 20.5 kopecks at 31.87 rubles/$1. Dollar trading volume amounted to $8.566 billion by that that time, with $2.583 billion in Today and $5.983 billion in Tomorrow trades.
The average weighted euro rate in Today deals rose 44 kopecks to 41.43 rubles/EUR1 in Moscow Exchange trading. The rate in Tomorrow deals gained 33.6 kopecks to 41.445 rubles/EUR1. Euro trading volume was at 536 million euros, with 300 million euros in Today and 236 million euros in Tomorrow trades.
On the money market, the overnight MosPrime Rate gave up two basis points to 6.51% per annum.
