People responsible fro riots should be punished - Kyrgyz president

BISHKEK. June 3 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev has called against the use of tough methods in dispersing protest rallies, but said he demands that all violations of the law by protesters be documented.

"At this point, we should refrain from using force against protesters. However, we should register and document all illegal actions taken by the organizers and participants in these actions because they infringe on the rights of thousands of people living in Kyrgyzstan and inflict considerable damage on the country's economy," the president said drying a meeting with the heads of Kyrgyzstan's defense, security, and law enforcement structures, the presidential press service told Interfax.

"The culprits should be punished in accordance with the law. There should be no exceptions," Atambayev said.

According to the press service, the heads of Kyrgyzstan's defense, security and law enforcement agencies reported to the president on the situation in some areas of Kyrgyzstan and the measures taken to settle the situation there.
