Gas production in Russia down 0.5% in Jan-May

MOSCOW. June 3 (Interfax) - Gas production in Russia edged down 0.5% year-on-year to 290.879 billion cubic meters (bcm) in January-May, the Central Dispatching Department of the Fuel and Energy Complex (CDU TEK) said in a report.

In May alone, Russia produced 52.568 bcm of gas.

Gazprom produced 210.247 bcm of gas in January-May and 36.646 bcm of gas in May alone.

Novatek , one of Russia's largest independent gas producers, produced 22.841 bcm of gas in the first five months of 2013 and 4.463 bcm of gas in May alone. Other oil and gas producers extracted 15.872 bcm of gas in January-May (3.074 bcm in May), while operators of production sharing agreements (PSA) extracted 11.928 bcm (2.258 bcm in May).

Vertically integrated oil companies produced 29.992 bcm of gas in January-May (6.127 bcm in May).

The companies to produce the largest amount of gas were: Lukoil (7.496 bcm in January-May and 1.495 bcm in May), Surgutneftegas (5.082 bcm and 1.032 bcm), TNK-BP Holding (5.625 bcm and 1.182 bcm), Rosneft (5.491 bcm and 1.066 bcm), and Gazprom Neft (4.658 bcm and 0.98 bcm).
