Kazakhstan, EU determine conditions for Kazakhstan's accession to WTO - Barroso
ASTANA. June 3 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan and the European Union have reached an agreement on the main issues of bilateral conditions for Kazakhstan's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), European Commission Chairman Jose Manuel Barroso said.
After meeting with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev in Astana on Monday, Barroso said the trade negotiations have finally reached an agreement on significant elements of bilateral conditions for Kazakhstan's accession to the WTO and a treaty to this effect will be signed in the nearest future.
Barroso also reiterated that European investment is the most important investment in Kazakhstan.
European investment is part of the great effort made to modernize and renew Kazakhstan's economy, Barroso said, adding that the EU has always backed Kazakhstan's accession to the WTO.
