Businessman Kozlov being released from Ivanovo penal colony

MOSCOW. June 3 (Interfax) - Businessman Alexei Kozlov is being released, his wife Olga Romanova said.

"Being released," Romanova tweeted.

The Federal Penitentiary Service employees have said that they could not release Kozlov because the original verdict of the Moscow City Court Presidium on the release had not come to the penal colony yet. Romanova said earlier on Monday that Kozlov went on a hunger strike demanding to be released.

The Moscow City Court Presidium ruled on May 31 to release Kozlov convicted for fraud with shares. The court ruled that it was illegal to hold Kozlov criminally liable under the article "attempt to legalize stolen money or property" and dropped the charged. The court ruled to sentence Kozlov to four years for fraud.

Taking into account the served time, the Moscow City Court Presidium ruled to release Kozlov. A judge said after the verdict was declared that the materials would soon be sent to the penal colony and after that Kozlov would be released.
