Some 4,500 passengers evacuated from Moscow metro
MOSCOW. June 5 (Interfax) - The police and rescue services have evacuated some 4,500 people from the metro stations Okhotny Ryad and Biblioteka Imeni Lenina, a source in the law enforcement agencies told Interfax.
"A total of 4,500 passengers from the metro stations Okhotny Ryad and Biblioteka Imeni Lenina were evacuated following the appearance of smoke in the metro," the source said.
Firefighters continue looking for the source of the smoke, the source said. Trains have been halted on the Sokolnicheskaya line of the Moscow metro.
According to earlier reports, a cable caught fire between the stations Okhotny Ryad and Biblioteka Imeni Lenina.
