Main issue addressed in meeting on preparations for conference on Syria will be representation of Syrian parties - Russian deputy foreign minister
GENEVA. June 5 (Interfax) - Russian, U.S. and UN officials who will meet in Geneva on Wednesday intend to discuss the composition of participants, the location and level of the upcoming international conference on Syria, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, who leads the Russian delegation, told Interfax.
"The meeting will, naturally, address the location, level, and composition of participants," Bogdanov said.
"The main thing is, of course, Syrian participants," he said.
"We are talking about Syrian government officials and representatives of the opposition groups, as is stated in the Geneva Communique and the Russian-U.S. agreements," he said.
Bogdanov said there are many groups in the Syrian opposition and Russia is expecting information from the Syrian opposition and the U.S. on how the Syrian opposition will be represented at the conference.
