Smoke stops traffic on Moscow Sokolnicheskaya metro line again

MOSCOW. June 5 (Interfax) - Smoke has once again stopped the traffic on the Moscow Sokolnicheskaya metro line, a source at the metro press service told Interfax.

"Power supply to the contact rail was halted again at 12:36 p.m. on Wednesday because of the smoke," he said.

The source said the smoke was detected in the same tunnel, on the former fire scene.

Meanwhile, a police source told Interfax "all the trains carrying passengers were stopped at the stations and there were no passengers inside tunnels."

The police have started the evacuation, he said.

"We will be evacuating people. There is no panic, standard operations are being performed," he said.

It was reported earlier that traffic between the Park Kultury and Komsomolskaya stations was halted at 8:17 a.m. on Wednesday after a power cable had caught fire in the tunnel between Okhotny Ryad and Biblioteka Imeni Lenina stations.
