Kazakhstan needs $3 bln-4 bln per year for 'green economy'

ASTANA. June 5 (Interfax) - Kazakhstan will need to spend $3 billion-$4 billion annually under the "Green Economy" concept.

Environment Protection Minister Nurlan Kapparov presented the "Green Economy by 2050" concept at a briefing in Astana on Wednesday

By 2050, green economy reforms will increase Kazakhstan's GDP by 3%, create 500,000 jobs, give rise to new industries and services and provide higher living standards.

Overall, investment needed to switch to the green economy will amount to about 1% of GDP or $3 billion-$4 billion a year, according to the presentation.
