Georgia prefers to foment tensions by refusing to demarcate border with S. Ossetia - Russian diplomat
MOSCOW/PRAGUE/ June 5 (Interfax) - Georgia is taking advantage of the fact that the border between South Ossetia and Georgia has not been demarcated to foment political tensions around this problem, a high-ranking Russian diplomat said.
"South Ossetia has repeatedly proposed at the Geneva discussions that the demarcation of the border with Georgia be started, which Georgia has always evaded on different pretexts," Russian State Secretary and Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin said following a meeting with Georgian prime ministerial envoy Zurab Abashidze in Prague.
"As this problem has not been settled, this from time to time produces situations that some take advantage of to foment political tensions around the situation at the border," he said.
The Georgian Foreign Ministry earlier expressed its outrage over the installation of barbed wire along the border with South Ossetia.
