Kazakhmys plc's Dyachenko tapped for Norilsk Nickel COO - paper

MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax) - Sergei Dyachenko, chief operating officer at Kazakh copper miner Kazakhmys plc, will take up the same position at Russia's MMC Norilsk Nickel in July, the Kommersant newspaper said, quoting sources close to the company's shareholders.

Dyachenko has worked in the mining industry for 25 years and held senior positions at Rio Tinto and De Beers. He joined Kazakhmys in February 2010. Reports said in May that Dyachenko would move to Norilsk Nickel, but they did not say in what capacity.

Yevgeny Muravyov, the COO in former Norilsk Nickel chief Vladimir Strzhalkovsky's team, followed his former boss out of the company in the spring. Yevgeny Yakovlev, first deputy CEO in Vladimir Potanin's new team, has been acting COO until a permanent chief operating officer is named.
