Gazprom inviting independent producers to supply gas to TGK-1 genco
MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax) - Gazprom Energoholding (GEH) will call a tender in the next week or two for the right to supply gas to its TGK-1 generating company, GEH chief Denis Fyodorov told a press conference.
"A tender [to supply gas] for TGK-1 will be called in the next couple of weeks," Fyodorov said. "We're hoping independent producers will offer contracts to supply roughly 2 bcm of gas," he said.
Fyodorov also said GEH had signed a new agreement with Surgutneftegas to increase gas supplies for the Surgut State District Power Plant in 2014, and that GEH had secured "further discounts for this gas."
TGK-1 unites 55 power plants in St. Petersburg, Karelia and Leningrad and Murmansk regions with capacity to generate 7,360 megawatts of electricity and 13,422 Gcal/hr of heat. Gazprom has a controlling stake and Finnish Fortum Power & Heat Oy has 25.66% of shares. The genco's plants consumed 6.3 bcm of gas in 2011.
Independent gas producer Novatek sold 1.2 bcm of gas in St Petersburg in 2011 and 1 bcm in 2012.
