Russian Navy's operative unit starts fulfilling Mediterranean mission - General Staff

MOSCOW. June 6 (Interfax) - An operative unit of the Russian Navy started fulfilling missions in the Mediterranean Sea on June 1, Russian General Staff Chief, First Deputy Defense Minister Valery Gerasimov said.

"The operative unit was formed and started to fulfill Mediterranean missions on June 1. It currently is comprised of 16 ships and three seaborne helicopters. The unit composition will change depending on the situation. The unit staff has been stationed aboard the Admiral Panteleyev anti-sub ship," Gerasimov said.
