Sanitary situation in Moscow allows rallies on June 12 - Onishchenko
MOSCOW. June 8 (Interfax) - Russia's Rospotrebnadzor director and chief sanitary inspector Gennady Onishchenko said he does not see any grounds for the introduction of restrictions on rallies in Moscow on June 12, the Day of Russia, for medical reasons.
"The respiratory infection rate is at the seasonal level. Everything is fine with acute respiratory illnesses. However, we should remember about the temperature factor and the possibility of a heat stroke," Onishchenko told Interfax on Saturday.
"Judging by the forecast, the temperature will be above 20 degrees Celsius on June 12. It will be hot. It's a serious stress for the body. People should dress according to the weather, cover their heads and carry water with them. People who don't feel well and have colds should refrain from taking part in rallies," Onishchenko said.
The Moscow authorities have authorized a protest march in central Moscow on June 12, the Day of Russia. The march will have 30,000 participants. The march participants will walk from the Kaluzhskaya Square along Bolshaya Yakimanka to the Bolotnaya Square.
Alexei Mayorov, the head of the regional security department of the Moscow mayor's office, earlier told Interfax many rallies devoted to the Day of Russia will take place in Moscow on June 12. We have many requests and many events planned for June 12, both federal and city-level," he said.
