Policeman wounded in Kabardino-Balkaria dies at hospital

MOSCOW. June 9 (Interfax) - An officer injured in the last night attack on a police patrol in Kabardino-Balkaria has died at the hospital, a representative of the law enforcement authorities told Interfax.

"The officer has died at the hospital of injuries he sustained in the shootout," he said.

A police patrol has been attacked in Nalchik, the city police told Interfax earlier.

"Automatic gunfire was opened at a police patrol at around midnight. One of the assailants was killed in the shootout," the police said.

An officer was injured.

The dead assailant is being identified, and the search for his accomplices is underway, the police said.
