Sinara may build light rail transport in Leningrad region - administration official
ST. PETERSBURG. June 10 (Interfax) - The Sinara industrial group is examining opportunities to organize construction of light-rail transportation equipment in Leningrad region, the deputy head of the region, Dmitry Yalov, told journalists on Monday.
"We are agreeing [with Sinara] on the start of work [on the project]," he said, adding that a cooperation agreement with the company is planned for signing at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 20-22.
The enterprise would only start operating in the region after the appropriate development concept has been drawn up and no earlier than 2014, he said.
Sinara, a diversified group founded in 2001, manufactures transportation equipment and is also engaged in financial services and property development. The chief owner of TMK , Dmitry Pumpyansky, owns 99.88% of shares.
Ural Locomotives, a joint venture between Sinara and Siemens, makes Lastochka (Desiro Rus) electric trains and freight locomotives.
