Promondis Energy to invest $214 mln in renewable energy projects in South Kazakhstan region
CHIMKENT. June 13 (Interfax) - Germany's Promondis Energy GmbH plans to invest $214 million in renewable energy projects in South Kazakhstan region in 2013-2014 through JV Ontustik Green Energy, the company's director Brentrup Berthold Franz said.
Documents founding the joint venture were signed on Wednesday between Chimkent Innovatsia LLP and Promondis Kazakhstan LLP (the Kazakhstan-based representative office for Promondis Energy GmbH).
The company plans to build stage-by-stage 4 solar PV stations with a total capacity of 100 MW in the region; under the project a facility to produce 250,000 LED lamps a year as well as a facility to assemble 3,000 inverters (devices that convert renewable sources of energy into electricity) annually are to be built this year.
In addition, according to the regional administration, the joint venture will implement a pilot project aimed at setting up an 88 KW solar-power station and installing LED-equipment in a school in Chimkent (administrative center of South Kazakhstan region) as well as LED-based and solar panel street lighting system in some city districts.
Promondis Energy GmbH is part of Walther Gebhardt Gruppe. Its main activity is the design, construction and maintenance of electricity generating facilities based on renewable energy sources.
