A Just Russia not surprised by Prokhorov's decision not to run for Moscow mayor
MOSCOW. June 13 (Interfax) - The decision made by Mikhail Prokhorov and the party Civil Platform not to run for the post of Moscow mayor is not a surprise, Mikhail Yemelyanov, deputy head of the A Just Russia faction in the State Duma, said.
"A Just Russia was indifferent about that news. I had expected Mr. Prokhorov to make that decision," Yemelyanov told Interfax on Thursday.
"Prokhorov's nomination could keep Sobyanin from winning in the first round and he decided not to run at the first request from the authorities," Yemelyanov said.
Yemelyanov said A Just Russia will announce the name of its candidate for the post of Moscow mayor after June 20, when a conference of the Moscow regional division of the party will be held. A Just Russia is now discussing several possible candidates.
