Govt approves Oleg Budargin as candidate for Russian Grids chief - paper
MOSCOW. June 14 (Interfax) - The Russian government has approved Chairman of FGC UES Oleg Budargin as a candidate for the head of Russian Grids, the former IDGC Holding which is managed by FGC UES.
On Friday, the newspaper Kommersant reported that the Federal Property Agency (Rosimushchestvo) had nominated Budargin as Russian Grids chief, citing a draft directive for electing government representatives to the company's board of directors, which was referenced by three sources who saw the document.
The Rosimushchestvo directive is currently in the final stages of approval. First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov was the first to sign it.
Once the directive arrives at Russian Grids' doorstep, the holding's board of directors will mull over the question. The current 15-member board of directors comprises eight government representatives, who are obligated to vote on the directive, and four independent candidates nominated by Rosimushchestvo. Therefore, the directive should not come up against any opposition.
The remainder of the anticipated appointments at Russian Grids and FGC UES have yet to be officially approved at the government level. The expectation is that former Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko will replace Georgy Boos as chairman of Russian Grids' board of directors. Andrei Murov, who has been Russian Grids' executive director since last July, is the most likely candidate to head up FGC UES. However, as yet there is no directive regarding the chairmanship of the board of directors of Russian Grids.
