Tatneft discussing hydrocarbon processing with Canada
MOSCOW. June 17 (Interfax) - Tatneft is discussing with its Canadian colleagues issues involved in the modernization of and creation of new hydrocarbon processing facilities, Deputy Russian Energy Minister Kirill Molodtsov said at a session of the Russian-Canadian business council under the auspices of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (RUIE).
"We have to discuss cooperation with the company Tatneft in the context of the conduct of joint seminars with Canadian companies for the modernization of and creation of new production for the processing of hydrocarbons," Molodtsov said.
Rosneft is actively working with Canada in the development of the Harmattan tar sands though a joint venture with ExxonMobil, he said. Russia and Canada are also discussing the utilization of associated petroleum gas.
Tatneft now processes hydrocarbons at the Tankeko plant, in which it owns 91% of the stock. Taneko produces straight-run gasoline, technical kerosene, vacuum gas oil, fuel oil, and granulated sulphur. It is building the hydrocracking installation under a license from Chevron. Design capacity for the processing of vacuum gas oil is 2.9 million tonnes. The plan is for it to turn out 1.16 million tonnes of Euro-4 and Euro-5 compliant diesel fuel, 380,000 tonnes of Jet brand aviation kerosene, more than 600,000 tonnes of straight-run gasoline and hydrofined gas oil, some of which will be sent for the production of base oils. Overall investment in the project is estimated at 40 billion rubles.
